Hello Great Souls,
This the first blog entry for our new site. We’re very excited about what will be coming in the near future, and we hope that you will come back to read more.
We expect that we will have posts about different parts of our coaching model, how we use them ourselves, and how we see they could be used by others in a general way. Our Helpful Tips section will have short, and hopefully meaningful entries - small stuff that probably some people already know about, and some people won’t know. Articles and posts will come primarily from either Heidi, myself, or both of us (co-written), and occassionally from our three Associate Coaches.
The site will also have articles that we will publish on range of topics, including what coaching is, an explanation of our process model, how some of our clients use coaching and the model, and things that you might find helpful.
It feels appropriate at this point to point out a bit of who and what we are. There will be more details later, but here is quick introduction. Heidi and I have been married for 16 years. For the past five-plus years, we have been coaching together. We started Dare To Dream officially in July of 2003 following a journey that led us to reinvent our entire life. The journey was dubbed the Great Adventure, and in many ways is still be lived out.
The journey began in our old life when we were trying to make life better. We had a really good life, but there was something not right that kept us from the great life. After some tweaking over the course of several months, we ultimately decided to start a new life; the paradigm of our circumstances was keeping us in the “good life”, but also keeping us from a “great life”. For us, we had to let everything go from that old life, and only take back what we wanted in the new life, for current reasons; we couldn’t assume that just because something was good that we should continue to carry it in our new life. we applied this rule to everything, incluing our marriage and jobs.
After several months of this process, including a lot of travel, we found words for what we were doing: we had put a lot of energy into that old paradigm, and had to put a lot of energy into getting out of it. On the other side, we knew that we wanted to do work together, and had a lot of great ideas. As we traveled around and interacted with others, we found ourselves in coaching moments, and eventually realized that this is what we were meant to do.
We moved to Sebastopol in November of 2002, and have been here ever since. Our circles of connections have continued to grow throughout these years as we continue to explore this new paradigm for ourselves. Every part of our coaching model comes directly out of our own experiences - we truly practice what we preach.
We hope that you return to read about what’s going on, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Blessings and Light,
